Tejidos del Entorno

Tejidos del Entorno es un proyecto que nace desde la inquietud con la que el trabajo de Nortejiendo se ha caracterizado, de hacer difusión de temas sociales y problemáticas actuales y expresarlas por medio de propuestas artísticas respaldadas de profunda investigación, observación, experimentación y compromiso.
Para su realización se ubicaron 5 puntos estratégicos del Río Chuvíscar, tomando en cuenta el desarrollo urbano, recreativo e industrial alrededor, así como el uso de sus aguas y espacios circundantes:
- PRESA CHIHUAHUA, el agua que bebemos.
- ARROYO ‘LAS ÁNIMAS’, el agua que nos da el territorio.
- INTERSECCIÓN RÍOS SACRAMENTO Y CHUVÍSCAR, el agua que llega a la junta de los ríos.
- RÍO SACRAMENTO, el agua tratada, agua que llena el río.
- ACEQUIAS AGRÍCOLAS, el agua tratada, agua que riega.
Durante los primeros meses del desarrollo del proyecto se realizaron las visitas a estos puntos, en cada uno se tomaron muestras de agua, muestras de suelo y vegetación, se documentaron de manera sonora así como fotográfica.
Dentro de las muestras de agua de cada punto, se colocó tela de algodón junto con algunos de los objetos recolectados y se preservó durante dos meses para ver cómo afectaba el agua de cada lugar a su color, su textura y deterioro.
Con toda esta información, Nortejiendo realiza la conceptualización de cada muestra escultórica representativa de cada lugar, utilizando la tela con la que se experimentó, así como objetos del lugar, luego de cuidadosa limpieza y desinfección.
De manera prioritaria se solicitó, para cada uno de los puntos, estudios fisicoquímicos y microbiológicos de agua al Centro de Calidad Ambiental, lo cual respaldó la percepción y conceptualización de cada escultura.
El resultado son 5 esculturas de máscaras textiles, cada una siendo una interpretación abstracta de todo el trabajo detrás de cada una, por medio de las cuales se busca recordar y plantear la problemática actual respecto al descuido de un cuerpo de agua tan importante para los chihuahuenses como lo es el Río Chuvíscar.
El deterioro actual del río no fue inmediato, ha sido el resultado de años de descuido, de indolencia e incluso decisiones corruptas de los estándares permitidos en el tema de desechos industriales así como la planeación urbana sin perspectiva de sustentabilidad y preservación.
Es el resultado de ignorar la importancia de proteger nuestro patrimonio biocultural, no solo como chihuahuenses, sino como humanidad.
Esta propuesta artística busca mantener vigente la urgencia de tomar medidas respecto al cuidado del agua, especialmente en uno de los estados con mayor estrés hídrico del país.

Fabrics from the Environment ('Tejidos del Entorno') is a project that was born from the concern with which Nortejiendo's work has been characterized, to disseminate social issues and current problems and express them through artistic proposals supported by deep research, observation, experimentation and commitment.
For its realization, 5 strategic points of the Chuvíscar River were located, taking into account the urban, recreational and industrial development around it, as well as the use of its waters and surrounding spaces:
- CHIHUAHUA DAM, the water we drink.
- ‘LAS ÁNIMAS’ CREEK, the water that the territory gives us.
- INTERSECTION OF THE SACRAMENTO AND CHUVÍSCAR RIVERS, the water that reaches the junction of the rivers.
- SACRAMENTO RIVER, the treated water, water that fills the river.
- AGRICULTURAL IRRIGATION DITCHES, treated water, water that irrigates.
During the first months of the project's development, visits were made to these points, in each one water samples, soil and vegetation samples were taken, and they were documented soundly as well as photographically.
Within the water samples from each point, cotton cloth was placed along with some of the collected objects and preserved for two months to see how the water from each location affected its color, texture and deterioration.
With all this information, Nortejiendo carries out the conceptualization of each representative sculpture sample of each place, using the fabric with which it was experimented, as well as objects from the place, after careful cleaning and disinfection.
As a priority, for each of the points, physicochemical and microbiological studies of water were requested from the Center for Environmental Quality, which supported the perception and conceptualization of each sculpture.
The result is 5 sculptures of textile masks, each one being an abstract interpretation of all the work behind each one, through which we seek to remember and raise the current problem regarding the neglect of a body of water as important for the people of Chihuahua as the Chuvíscar River.
The current deterioration of the river was not immediate, it has been the result of years of neglect, indolence and even corrupt decisions regarding the standards allowed in the area of industrial waste as well as urban planning without a perspective of sustainability and preservation.
It is the result of ignoring the importance of protecting our biocultural heritage, not only as Chihuahuans, but as humanity.
This artistic proposal seeks to maintain the urgency of taking measures regarding the care of water, especially in one of the states with the greatest water stress in the country.

Nortejiendo es una colectiva de propuesta artística y activista de Chihuahua, Chih. México. Su trabajo se ha caracterizado por poner prioridad en sus obras e instalaciones, la defensa de los Derechos Humanos, con la convicción de que por medio de la expresión artística, interactiva, participativa y pacífica, se pueden lograr puentes de comunicación, influencia y entendimiento de las diversas necesidades de la sociedad.
