¿Por qué elegimos este punto?

El valle agrícola de Tabalaopa conserva una antigua red de acequias que transportan agua tratada de la Planta Sur, así como retornos de riego provenientes de los cultivos.

Este siststema es vital para mantener la producción agrícola local (forrajes, plantas ornamentales y de consumo humano). Cuando hay excedentes, estos escurren hacia arroyos que finalmente desembocan en el Chuvíscar.

Este sitio muestra cómo la gestión del agua urbana y agrícola se conecta de manera directa, lo que representa el agua tratada, el agua que riega.

Why did we choose this point?

The agricultural valley of Tabalaopa preserves an ancient network of irrigation ditches that transport treated water from the South Plant, as well as irrigation returns from crops.

This system is vital to maintain local agricultural production (forage, ornamental plants and human consumption). When there are overflows, these drain into streams that finally flow into the Chuvíscar.

This site shows how urban and agricultural water management are directly connected, which represents treated water, the water that irrigates.

¿Qué contiene el agua?

El agua en las acequias presenta bajos niveles de bacterias, pero arrastra sólidos y nutrientes en exceso, además de parásitos y posibles rastros de cianuro que requieren más estudios para confirmarse.

Estas condiciones reflejan cómo el agua que circula en la zona está sujeta a distintos usos y descargas, lo que vuelve fundamental su monitoreo constante.

What does this water contain?

The water in the ditches has low levels of bacteria, but carries excess solids and nutrients, in addition to parasites and possible traces of cyanide that require more studies to confirm.

These conditions reflect how the water that circulates in the area is subject to different uses and discharges, which makes its constant monitoring essential.

¿Qué se puede observar?

El paisaje combina praderas, bordos y canales de riego que marcan el carácter rural de la zona.

Por tratarse de una planicie, el agua suele encharcarse tras las lluvias, favoreciendo la presencia de mosquitos y malos olores.

A la par, Tabalaopa enfrenta una presión urbana cada vez mayor por la cercanía del aeropuerto, las industrias y los nuevos desarrollos residenciales que avanzan sobre áreas agrícolas.

What can be observed?

The landscape combines meadows, banks and irrigation canals that mark the rural character of the area.

Because it is a plain, the water tends to become puddled after the rains, favoring the presence of mosquitoes and bad odors.

At the same time, Tabalaopa faces increasing urban pressure due to the proximity of the airport, industries and new residential developments advancing over agricultural areas.
